FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities confirm that they've recovered the body of a jet skier who went missing after a Monday crash on Lake Lanier.

Sgt. Lee Brown with the Department of Natural Resources said a jet ski and bass boat collided around 8:30 p.m. in an area of Lake Lanier called Charleston Park in North Forsyth County.

The boater was not injured, but the man on the jet ski had yet to be found, until Tuesday night. DNR officials confirmed that they recovered the body of 34-year-old Yakov Shteyman, of Cumming, Ga.

Forsyth Co. Sheriff's Office and Fire Department assted with the search, using sonar equipment and a remote operate vehicle that will go in the water. A DeKalb Police air unit was also deployed.

Sgt. Brown urged people who are on the lake or in any type of water to wear life jackets. "When you operate at night have your navigation lights on. Be aware of what's around you, but the most important thing that we cannot stress enough is just to make sure that you wear a life jacket and have one onboard for everybody that's the appropriate size," he said, "Jet skis are not equipped with running lights because they are not allowed to operate after sunset by law."
