Metro Atlanta native found dead at Georgia Southern University

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of death

State and local authorities are working to determine the cause of death for a Georgia Southern University student with ties to metro-Atlanta.

NBC affiliate WSAV reports that 22-year-old Bradley Frietas was found dead inside a student housing center on the edge of the Georgia Southern University campus on March 1.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by campus police around 9 p.m. that night to help with a welfare check at Freedom's Landing Apartments when they found the student's body. The Bulloch County Coroner was later called to the apartment complex and was able to confirm Frietas was deceased.

His body has since been turned over to the GBI Crime Lab in Savannah, Georgia for an autopsy in hopes of uncovering what ultimately led to his death.

The campus newspaper, The George-Anne, reported that Frietas was a graduate of Decatur High School.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the GBI regional office at 912-871-1121 or Georgia Southern police at 912-681-5234.
