DREAMer rally held Saturday outside popular Cuban sandwich shop

The rally called on Congress to pass legislation allowing children of illegal immigrants who brought them to the U.S. to remain.

A rally was held Saturday in Brookhaven in support of DACA recipients popularly known as DREAMers.

The rally was held outside Havana Sandwich Shop, a family-owned Cuban restaurant on Buford Highway that has a longtime, loyal following.

The rally called on Congress to pass legislation allowing children of illegal immigrants who brought them to the U.S. to remain.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals law was created under the Obama administration and has shielded nearly 800,000 people from deportation and granted them work permits.

President Trump announced in September that he would end the program. Trump gave Congress six months to pass a bill to protect DREAMers, but hinted that he might extend their DACA protections if Congress fails to find a solution.
