Fire destroys vacant house on Dexter Ave. in Macon

When firefighters arrived at the home on Dexter Avenue, it was fully involved with flames.

A vacant home is destroyed after a Saturday evening fire.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Sanders with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, crews received a call around 7:15 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at the home on Dexter Avenue, it was fully involved with flames.

Chief Sanders says the intensity of the fire also damaged the house next door, and a man inside that house was able to escape without injuries.

Crews are trying to determine where and how the blaze began.
