 Funeral arrangements have been set for a U.S. Marshal killed in the line of duty in Georgia.

NORCROSS, Ga. -- Funeral arrangements have been set for a U.S. Marshal killed in the line of duty in Georgia.

U.S. Marshal Patrick Carothers, 53, of Flowery Branch, Ga., was part of a team serving an arrest warrant for Dontrell Montrese Carter at the Spring Creek Mobile Home Park in Long County Friday when authorities said Carter opened fire.

Carothers was struck twice. The team returned fire, killing Carter.

Carter was wanted for attempted murder of police officers, domestic violence and unlawfully discharging a weapon in September in Sumter County, S.C.

Carothers leaves behind a wife of 30 years and five children.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at The Long Forum of Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga.

Interment will take place on Nov. 29 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Va. The family received friends on Nov. 25 at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Ga.
