ATLANTA, Ga. -- Finding a hotel room in Atlanta is reminiscent of Atlanta's Snow Jam of 2014.

It may be nearly impossible to find a hotel room in Atlanta. Hurricane Irma is headed up the East Coast. Mandatory evacuations for much of Florida and all counties east of I-95 in Georgia. This path toward Florida has many traveling north to Atlanta.

On Thursday, we followed 11Alive News travel planner Emily Buck as she tried to find hotel openings in Atlanta.

In the last 24 hours, Buck has called more than 20 hotels with no luck.

Buck needs hotel rooms for company employees headed to Atlanta to cover the storm and those employees living in the Tampa and Jacksonville areas.

Buck says although she needs hotel rooms for company employees, her heart especially goes out to the families fleeing the storm in desperate need of a place to stay.
