Gwinnett family forced out of home by flames

Fire started in a parked car, then spread to the house

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - A Lawrenceville family was forced from their home Friday by a vehicle fire.

Gwinnett firefighters tell 11Alive News the fire broke out around 2:10 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of Thornbush Trace in Lawrenceville.

Firefighters say it started in a car parked next to the house in a garage which quickly spread to the home.

A woman in the house heard a loud noise, realized there was a fire and evacuated her three children. No one in the house was hurt.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury, but did not require hospitalization.

Firemen say the blaze caused heavy damage to the garage and attic of the house, along with smoke and heat damage to the second floor.

The Red Cross has been contacted to assist.
