‘I don’t feel safe’ | Neighbors terrified following deadly home invasion in Gwinnett

"What I'm scared of is that anyone could come in here, to any house and do it again," one neighbor told 11Alive.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — It's been three days since armed men stormed a Gwinnett County home and killed a father in front of his family.

Investigators hope the new video and photos of the suspects’ car will help put the dangerous criminals behind bars before they strike again. The video showed a plain champagne colored Chevy Tahoe enter the subdivision around Scholar Drive in Gwinnett County around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

“You don't get a real good look at who's actually inside the car but it does kind of reinforce that we thought there was a total of three people,” Sgt. James Smith with Gwinnett Police said.

The three suspects stayed in the neighborhood for about an hour and 20 minutes. During that time, police said two of the men, dressed in construction uniform, stormed the home on Scholar Drive and held a family hostage.

They allegedly tied up 44-year-old Miguel Osorio, his wife, and daughter and then shot Osorio as he tried to break free.

“The initial officer had some reason to believe there were drugs involved,” Smith said. “It could have been as simple as a joint in an ashtray.”

But nothing, according to Sgt. Smith, indicated it was a drug deal gone wrong. Smith said they are just concerned for the community.

Neighbors, on the other hand, are scared.

“I don't feel safe. I don't feel safe here,” Maluisa Bucardo who lives in the neighborhood said. “What I'm scared of is that anyone could come in here, to any house and do it again.”

Eric Dominguez who also lives in the neighborhood worries about the children.

“It's kind of difficult to have my children around running their bicycles in the streets knowing that somebody is out there trying to do whatever,” Dominguez said. “It's kind of scary.”

Police do not believe this is a gang-related shooting, nor have they ruled out that it was a random incident.

The only descriptions police have so far are two black males in construction-like clothing. Police said the two surviving victims are cooperating. The family, police said, have only lived in the house for past month.

“If we had something to say for sure that it was targeted, we would like to be able to say but at this point, we can’t,” Smith said.
