Make your lawn as green as The Masters'

The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta is about to take full swing, and pros will take to the green. Matt Pippan from Turf Solutions has some tips on how to keep your grass similar to The Masters' greens.

The courses at The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta are known for having pristine green grass. Matt Pippan from Turf Solutions has some tips on how to keep your grass similar to The Masters' greens.

The course is kept in immaculate condition with its lush green grass trimmed perfectly and maintained with the utmost care.

For those of you wanting to mimic The Masters' greens, you would technically have to buy rye grass.

According to Matt Pippan from Turf Solutions, rye grass is a "winter grass."

"It greens up during the cool months of the season," Pippan said. This means the grass is nice and green when they lay it in the early spring for the tournament.

Pippan says rye grass is not typical in Central Georgia, but he has some tips so your grass can really be greener than your neighbor's yard.

"Around here, people have warm season turf grasses, Centipede and Bermuda grass," Pippan explained.

"To have good-looking green grass like that, you're going want to fertilize it throughout spring and summer, and water it really good, and make sure you're mowing it, maintain that mowing pattern at a low height," Pippan said.

The Masters begins on April 5 and will be aired right here on CBS.
