Man arrested in fatal I-75 crash that killed Locust Grove senior

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a seven-car crash on Interstate-75 over the weekend has been arrested and charged..

Daniel Crane of Jemez Springs, New Mexico faces Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree, Following Too Closely, and Commercial Vehicle Hours of Service Violations charges after the crash killed a high school senior.

According to Henry County police, Crane's tractor trailer struck 18-year-old Summer Lee's car and then "pushed it into five other vehicles."

Lee was a senior of Locust Grove High School.

Seven people were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

The accident took place just before 11 a.m. Saturday on I-75 northbound at Highway 20/81.

Crane was arrested on the scene but neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.

The crash is still under investigation.
