Man found dead during fire rescue

As firefighters entered a smoke-filled apartment No. 1—where they believe the fire started—they discovered a body in the bedroom.

LAGRANGE, Ga. – Police are investigating a death after fire personnel find a man’s body amid a structure fire.

On Aug. 11, LaGrange Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 201 N. Lewis St.

As firefighters entered a smoke-filled apartment No. 1—where they believe the fire started—they discovered the body of Antivolis Coverson in the bedroom.

The victim was taken to West Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation indicates that the fire was not intentional.
