Police have released the name of a man who was hit and killed on Labor Day near Woodstock, Georgia.
Investigators said Russell L. Mathews, 31, of Marietta, Georgia was walking south in the northbound travel lane of Canton Road around 8:57 p.m. when he was struck by a white 2003 Chevrolet Express van.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Mathews lying in the grass just off the shoulder of the roadway. He was rushed to Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital but died from his injuries.
Neither the driver nor his female passenger was hurt in the crash.
At this time no charges are expected to be filed in the case but anyone with information about it is asked to call 770-499-3987.
