DeKalb County Fire Rescue fought a house fire located in the 2500 block of Appomattox Drive in DeKalb Co.

When firefighters arrived, they saw flames billowing from the garage. Once on the scene, they learned that a man may be inside. He was located and pulled from an upstairs window but it was too late. He died on the scene.

Family members identified the victim as 74-year-old Wendall Bailey.

A neighbor called 911 around 6:40 a.m. this morning to report the fire. Fire officials said it was put out within 20 minutes and no other residents were inside the home.

There was no power on the entire street after Irma knocked out power for more than a million people. DeKalb Fire Captain Eric Jackson said, "that doesn't tell us how or why the fire happened."

The fire is under investigation.

Jackson urged people without power to use take caution when hearing their home.
