1 hospitalized after Marietta apartment fire

It happened Saturday morning on Booth Road.

MARIETTA, Ga. — One person was hospitalized with serious burns, officials said Saturday, after an apartment fire in Marietta.

The fire happened at a location on Booth Road, Cobb County fire officials said.

11Alive's Karys Belger reports six people were displaced and two apartment units were a total loss.

Several residents of the apartment block had to be evacuated during the fire.

"The estimate is we've got six adults displaced at this time, but the American Red Cross is assisting" said Georgia McKeehan, an assistant fire chief with Marietta Fire.

He said that when he arrived it was a struggle just to get the flames under control.

"We had to do things from the outside, instead of running into the building for a while, but then we transitioned that once we got the flames knocked down," McKeehan stated.
