ATLANTA -- An off-duty Atlanta police officer was struck by a motorist Sunday night in Midtown.

According to Atlanta police, the officer, who was on a motorcycle, was working an extra job when he was struck by a vehicle around 10th Street and Monroe Drive.

The vehicle remained on scene, and the officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment for an injury to his side.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the officer was cited for failure to yield.
