The principle of the middle school sent the following letter to parents:

“Dear NMS Families,

I am writing you to inform you that we received information that a student has shared disturbing and threatening comments to students and possibly on social media. Upon receiving this information, we immediately began to investigate the situation. We determined the source of the comments and have been in contact with the student’s parents. Because of the nature of the disruption, the student will not be allowed on campus.

We are following our district’s safety and security protocols to assure that NMS remains safe. Students and staff will not be placed in danger. The safety and security of our campus is our number one priority.

As I mentioned in my communication last week, we are extremely cautious and sensitive to any threats or disturbing comments due to the terrible events that took place in Parkland, FL. Any disruption to our campus will always be taken seriously and dealt with firmly. The school will take the appropriate action based on following the FCS code of conduct to issue appropriate consequences. Our School Resource Officer will also follow our protocol to report the incident to law enforcement.

I want to thank those that came forward to report this information to us. Your effort to assist us in providing a safe environment for our students is beyond commendable.

Please make your students aware that regardless of the intent, dangerous statements made via social media or verbally, will be taken seriously and consequences can be issued by our school and law enforcement.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Please feel free to reach out to us as needed.

Kind Regards,

Charles Chester

Principal
