A toddler is safe after being found wandering around an apartment community Tuesday morning. Early Tuesday, police were called to the Arbor Gates Apartments in Buckhead where a 3-year-old was seen walking alone in the parking lot.
During their search for the kid's parents, police found an apartment that had the door open. They went inside and found a man who was asleep, Jymarcus Williams. He turned out to be the child's father.
Williams told police he fell asleep and his son must have opened the door and let himself outside. When Williams went inside to get his I.D. police said smelled marijuana and saw a small plastic bag of what they think is marijuana on a side table.
Police seized the marijuana, arrested Williams and charged him with possession.
Grady EMS responded to the scene to check out the child who was asleep when they arrived.
According to Atlanta Police Lt. A.B. Jackson, the case is still under investigation. Charges are possible and the department said they're involving the Department of Family and Children Services.
The little boy was released to his mother who shares custody with the father.
