An 11-year-old girl is expected to be okay after shooting herself accidentally, police say.
Just before midnight on Nov. 30, an 11-year-old girl and her aunt called 911 to the 1700 block of Stanton Rd. SW after a gun in their car discharged. According to Captain Brian Schiffbauer, the wound was not life-threatening.
He said he "went out to the car to get a cellphone charger and saw the gun, reached passed it, accidentally pulled the trigger and shot herself in the hand. Nothing life-threatening,"
She was take to the hospital and Schiffbauer said "she was in pretty good spirits."
The investigation is ongoing but police do not plan to file charges saying, "We believe it was just an honest to goodness accident."
