JASPER, Ga. -- Multiple agencies from several counties are currently mounting a search for a missing elderly man who might have dementia.
Authorities are searching for 79-year-old Ben Thebaut in the Sharp Mountain Preserve Subdivision. Officials told 11Alive Thebaut was last seen walking away from his home on Terrace Way toward the woods at around 3 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said Thebaut has been suffering from dementia-like symptoms, but the condition has not yet been confirmed by a doctor.

Searchers returned at day break the following day to continue the search for the man, which lasted well into the evening. 11Alive’s SkyTracker was over the scene of the search Monday.
