Farmers market showcases organic goods

The Vickery Village Farmers Market in Cumming offers not only locally grown produce, but organic goods as well.

Saturday was the kickoff for weekend farmers markets at Vickery Village in Cumming, shifting from Thursdays for the coming months.

Nearly 20 vendors were in full swing offering everything from homemade soap and Christmas ornaments to beef jerky and gluten-free pasta.

According to Joern Seigies, the market manager, some unique aspect of this market are the focus on organic products and the wide variety of items.

"You can get produce throughout the winter. You can get bread. You can get coffee. During this season we’re also bringing in gifts for the holidays, mostly food oriented. A few non-food. We don’t do a lot of crafts in this market, so its mostly farmers that provide the products," Seigies said.

The market is open for business every Saturday in December. January through March, it will be open the first and third Saturday of each month.
