NEWNAN, Ga. -- A Newnan shooting suspect is no longer on the run after being caught by U.S. Marshals, police confirmed late Tuesday.

Michael Lewis Boykin Jr. was taken into custody by agents around noon in metro Atlanta according to a Newnan Police Department spokesperson. He faces charges of aggravated assault and parole violation in connection with an incident that happened on Aug. 17 off of Cliff Circle.

That's where authorities believe Boykin shot Randy Cortez Snelling. Now, days later, Snelling continues to recover from his injuries in an Atlanta area hospital.

Police said that Boykin is being held in the Coweta County Jail. More charges are pending.
