Red Cross called to assist displaced after apartment fire

Investigators believe the fire was accidental at this time.

NORCROSS, Ga. - Crews fought a blaze at an apartment complex late Wednesday night.

At 10:01 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex located on the 1400 block of Chase Lane inside the Summit Dawson Apartments.

When firefighters arrived, occupants of the the building were already in the process of evacuating and no injuries were reported.

The fire was under control within 17 minutes after fire crews arrived.

The Red Cross was called to assist with the people who were impacted by the fire.

A mother and adult daughter were asleep before they were woken up by the fire alarm. They saw their kitchen on fire and told firefighters that they had been cooking prior to going to bed.

Investigators believe the fire was accidental at this time.
