OIL CITY, La. -- An Atlanta man who was wanted for the rape, robbery and kidnapping of his girlfriend was arrested by Louisiana authorities, 11Alive's NBC affiliate reports.

Alfredo L. Capote, 30, was arrested at an apartment complex in the 100 block of North Dickey Street in Caddo Parish, La. Tuesday, KTAL reports. Sheriff's deputies picked Capote up after an investigation into an ongoing counterfeit check operation he was allegedly part of.

The 30-year-old was wanted out of Gwinnett County for the April 2016 rape, armed robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and aggravated sexual battery of his girlfriend Jokisha Brown at her Duluth home with her son present.

Three months later on July 1, she was shot and killed while sitting in her car at a Cheshire Bridge Road strip mall where she was waiting to get her nails and makeup done before going out to celebrate her birthday. The 35-year-old had moved to the Atlanta area from Jacksonville, Fla. with her son to pursue an acting and modeling career. She would have celebrated her birthday the next day.

Capote was listed as a "person of interest" in Brown's murder. After Capote's arrest, Caddo Sheriff Sgt. Bobby Herring said the office is working with the Atlanta Police Department in its murder investigation.

The 30-year-old was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center as a fugitive from Gwinnett County and the U.S. Marshal's Service. He was charged with two counts of forgery and two counts of access device fraud.

Wednesday, Caddo County deputies added 25 additional charges surrounding a counterfeit check scam. No bond was set on the charges.
