A suspect who was connected to several auto thefts and a carjacking was arrested on Tuesday, July 11.

Barrow Co. Sheriff's Office responded to a call of several cars being broken into off Elijah Way and Rebekah Drive. The victims reported missing cell phones, credit cards, wallets and handguns.

Walton Co. deputies were able to locate and get behind the suspects' vehicle which led to the suspects fleeing and stealing another vehicle.

The pursuit led them into Barrow Co. where the suspects crashed at Highway 316 and McCarty Road. One of the suspects, later identified as Laqerius Shumpert, attempted to flee on foot but was later apprehended after deputies and K-9 units searched until 4:00 a.m.

Shumpert admitted to breaking and entering into the victims' vehicles and officers were able to recover a majority of the stolen property.

The other suspects, Brandon Bundrage, and Shumpert were charged with entering auto, criminal trespass, damage to property, theft by taking, financial transaction card theft, obstruction of officers, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
