ATLANTA – Police have released a sketch of a man wanted in a violent sexual assault.

According to Atlanta Police, the incident happened some time after 7 a.m. on Oct. 7 at an apartment complex on Luckie Street, NW. The victim said she walked her child outside to the bus, and had left her apartment unlocked. She said when she returned, the man, a stranger to her, was waiting for her.

The police report says the man rushed toard her, "kicked her in the head, dragged her to the ground, punched her in the face and repeatedly choked her." Police say the man then sexually assaulted her.

According to police, the woman was able to fight the man off, run to the balcony and scream for help until a man was able to assist her.

The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

On Wednesday, police released a sketch of the suspect as well as video of a person of interest in the case.

A $2,000 reward is being offered in the case.
