ATLANTA – The leading Democrat in the Sixth Congressional District race was at the Capitol Thursday, rounding up endorsements from House and Senate Democrats.
Members of the Georgia House and Senate Democratic Caucus endorsed candidate Jon Ossoff under the Gold Dome and encourage early voting.
Polls have indicated that Ossoff would finish among the top vote-getters in the crowded race to replace Tom Price.
Because the Sixth District has been in Republican hands since the late 70s, Ossoff conceded that a Republican is probably the favorite to win.
“I’m absolutely the underdog. But this is a winnable race,” Ossoff said. “If you have any doubts about it being a winnable race just look at the attack ads on television. That’s an indication of how competitive the race is.”
The special election is April 18. A June runoff could be in the cards.
Actor Christopher Gorham and Actress Alyssa Milano have been outspoken supporters, even offering to drive voters to the polls and babysit for moms.
