ATLANTA, Ga – Shots were fired during a police pursuit Wednesday morning in south Fulton County.

Fulton County police were responding to a suspicious vehicle call in the parking lot of the US Beauty Mart on Old National Highway around 11 am, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

When police arrived, the driver allegedly tried to leave the scene, and struck several nearby vehicles including a police car.

Police then opened fire, and the suspect drove away. A short chase ensued, and the driver was eventually apprehended and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The GBI said the driver was not shot, but suffered from lacerations from broken glass.

The GBI has taken over investigation of the case, which is standard procedure when an officer-involved shooting is reported.
