Talbot County board of education to close after threat against employee

TALBOT COUNTY, Ga. — A central Georgia school superintendent said they are taking the extra step and shutting down it's board of education office and a middle school after law enforcement received a threat against an employee.

"Due to a bomb threat and the threat of one of our faculty member's life, per the recommendation of the sheriff department, Talbot County Board of Education and Central Elementary Middle High School will not be open, tomorrow on March 15, 2018," Superintendent Dr. James Jack Catrett said.

The FBI, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and a local task team will perform a security sweep of the schools Thursday.

"Sorry for any inconveniences, but the safety of our staff and students is very important to us," Catrett concluded.
