Two Georgia men are dead, Saturday, after a a boating incident on the Potomac River near Washington.

Authorities with the Maryland Natural Resources police told NBC Washington that 49-year-old James A. Melley of Buford, Ga. and 61-year-old Garth Thomas Tagge of Atlanta were both killed after they fell from a 36-foot catamaran.

A police spokesperson said that the boat in question was capable of speeds has high as 190 mph though authorities said they were not sure how fast it was going when the incident occurred.

They are also not sure if the men were racing at the time.

The bodies of the two men will be taken to the local medical examiner's office for autopsies.
