FAIRBURN, Ga. -- One man has died and another is injured after they were found with gunshot wounds in a car in Fairburn late Wednesday.
According to Union City Police, a man was assaulted by two men during an attempted robbery around 8 p.m. He broke away from the men and was chased to a friend's house on Cotter Drive.
The man's friend jumped in to help. During the altercation, shots were fired. The suspects fled in a car towards Fairburn, where they were found with gunshot wounds at 100 Summerwood Drive at about 8:30 p.m.
Both suspects were transported to the hospital, where one of them later died.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates the shots were fired in self-defense, police said.
