ATLANTA — You've probably seen the photo circulating online that shows a stranded United States Postal Service tractor trailer stopped in the middle of the Downtown Connector.
It was shared on Reddit and then spread quickly to Facebook and Twitter.
But if you look closer, it's just the trailer sitting on I-75/85... with no cab attached to it at all!
11Alive wanted to VERIFY whether the photo was real and whether it really happened.
The answer will have you shaking your head and saying, "Oh, Atlanta."
QUESTION
Is the photo of a cab-less U.S. Postal Service trailer stranded on I-75/85 real?
ANSWER
It's surprising, but this is TRUE. 11Alive can confirm that this is a real photo.
EXPLANATION
11Alive went directly to the Postal Service, who confirmed it happened Wednesday near 17th Street.
They explained that a truck hauling the trailer broke down, so they had to tow it away and bring in a new one.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the USPS told 11Alive:
"The Postal Service worked quickly to rectify the situation, bringing in a new tractor in to move the trailer, which had lost air pressure. The trailer was first towed to the side of the road. Police stopped traffic to allow this process to take place. The trailer was then hooked up to another tractor and continued to its destination.”
The USPS also told 11Alive all the mail was still delivered.
