WALTON COUNTY, Ga – One person was shot late Saturday night during an apparent case of road rage after the UGA-Georgia Tech game.
The shooting happened on Highway 138 in Walnut Grove. Police say some sort of argument erupted between four people in a pickup truck and the driver of another car.
The disagreement then escalated into punches, and ended when one person in the truck was shot.
The condition of the shooting victim is unknown, and police are interviewing everyone involved in the conflict, though no charges have been filed.
Police believe heavy traffic and high emotions from the game contributed to the incident.
Investigators on Sunday updated that the shooter was acting in self defense and will not face charges.
