A section of Buckhead was turned into an ice rink after water from a busted pipe shot more than 10 feet in the air Tuesday.
Residents living on Rivers Road say they began contacting the city as early as 2 p.m. about a possible water main break on their street. Pictures taken at the scene showed the water spouting in the air.
As the temperature cooled, water began freezing on the road, making the street virtually impassable.
Atlanta Watershed confirms that they were made aware of the water main break around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. Crews were immediately sent out to repair the 6-inch water main break.
Watershed warns that more pipes are likely to burst with any rise in the temperature. They encourage customers to report any water main breaks by calling 404-546-0311, or sending pictures and videos to their social media pages.
