GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Fire and I-85 seem to have a thing going.

Twelve days after massive fire caused I-85 in Midtown to collapse, firefighters were battling a series of much smaller fires along the same interstate.

Between three and five separate brush fires broke out along I-85 near Highway 316. Two of the fires merged together to form one large burning area, threatening a car dealership.

When Gwinnett County firefighters first responded just before noon, they immediately called for backup as calls started pouring into 911 reporting other fires.

As firefighters battled a blaze scorching grass along the  Highway 316 Access Road, employees of the Subaru Dealership on Satellite Boulevard in Duluth scrambled to move cars away from the fence line. Some of the vehicles sustained minor damage, but no one was hurt.

It took 30 firefighters about an hour to get the brush fire completely under control. The bridge and access area were closed for hours as firefighters doused hot spots.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. It's unknown at this time if the fire was intentional or accidental.
