The East Tennessee response team is serving evacuees in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park area. Officials estimate more than 14,000 residents and visitors had to evacuate Gatlinburg due to an inferno in Sevier County.

The Red Cross said they're also providing support to the firefighters battling the blaze.

While the Red Cross said they cannot take small donations of food or clothing, they are accepting monetary donations through, 1-800-RED CROSS, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

"Small items, such as collections of food, used clothing, and shoes, often must be cleaned, sorted, and repackaged, which impedes the valuable resources of money, time, and personnel that are needed for other aspects of our relief operation."
