Woodstock Police search for attempted purse snatcher in 'rare incident'

Police said a man approached a woman as she was getting out of her car at the park and tried to steal her purse.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Police are trying to track down a suspect they said tried to snatch a woman's purse while she was at a local park.

Officers went to Dupree Park off Neese Road after getting reports of an attempted purse theft.

When officers got there, they spoke with a woman who said as Hispanic man in a maroon hoodie walked up to her as she got out of her car and tried to take her purse.

Police said he was "unsuccessful" and ran away after. The woman was mostly uninjured, but said she get a minor scrap during the incident. She was treated on scene.

Investigators brought in K-9 officers to try to track down the suspect, but they didn't find him.
