FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A 30-year-old man died in Floyd County Jail early Friday morning, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The sheriff’s office said Bradley Wimpy was arrested on Tuesday and “apparently suffered a medical emergency in his cell” on Friday morning. They said he was the only person in the cell.

“Lifesaving efforts were attempted by jail staff, paramedics and fire department personnel, and the inmate was transported to Redmond Hospital’s Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead by hospital medical personnel shortly after 1 a.m. this morning,” the Facebook post states.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Whitford was arrested on drug possession charges.

The sheriff’s office says the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will perform an autopsy. The GBI and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death, they said.
