According to court documents, Jason Eaton, 43, walked into the Greensburg Police Department just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 25 and told an officer that he had killed his girlfriend, Wendy Sabatini.
Officers then went to the couple's home in the 900 block of East Washington Street in Greensburg. They were let inside the residence by Sabatini's son, who thought his mother was at work and was unaware of any trouble inside the home.

Upstairs, officers found Sabatini dead in a bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the crown of her head, according to court documents.
Police say Eaton told them that he approached Sabatini with an engagement ring earlier that afternoon, but she said "no" before he could ask. He then took the gun from the nightstand and moved behind Sabatini. That's when the gun went off, he told police.
Eaton then went to the home of an acquaintance, saying he "messed up" and that he thought he had killed Sabatini, according to court documents. The acquaintance took him to the police station.
Eaton was charged Thursday with one count of murder.
