Police, GSP pursuit ends in deadly crash in College Park

The incident began in East Point and ended with a passenger's death just before leaving the College Park city limits.

One person is dead and another in the hospital after a police pursuit took a tragic turn in southern Fulton County, Monday evening.

According to a spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol, troopers were called in by the East Point Police Department during a chase. But at some point, while they were trailing the vehicle through College Park, it lost control and struck several trees in the 4400 block of Janice Drive.

The passenger died at the scene and the driver was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Georgia State Patrol officials confirmed by e-mail, Monday, that the report is not yet complete meaning the investigation may not yet be over.

It's not yet clear what charges the driver was facing before the chase or what that person will face following the fatal crash. Names have not yet been released.
