Police officer arrested for DUI, public decency

The officer was off-duty at the time of the arrest.

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- A Douglasville Police officer is facing disciplinary action after being arrested on driving under the influence and public indecency charges.

According to the Douglasville Police Department, James Phipps has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation of the July 29 arrest in Fannin County. Phipps was off-duty at the time of the arrest.

"We expect our officer’s conduct to reflect our core values both on-duty and off," said Douglasville Police Chief Gary Sparks. "We respectfully ask for your patience as this investigation comes to a conclusion."
