Police searching for vehicle of interest in fake cop, sex assault cases

Police believe the driver may have information that could help identify the suspect.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Police are searching for the driver of a car that they believed passed by as a fake cop pulled over a victim and sexually assaulted her.

Both the Cobb County and Atlanta Police Departments are searching for a man they believed posed as an officer to perform separate traffic stops in Cobb and Atlanta. Instead of issuing traffic tickets, however, police said two women reported the man violated them. Investigators have been on the hunt for the police poser, believed to be the same man in both cases, ever since.

Last week, both agencies released sketches of the suspect's face. On Tuesday, Cobb County Police said they were looking for the driver of a white sedan that was seen passing the scene of the Cobb County assault off Terrell Mill Road.

Investigators said they wanted to speak to the driver of the car, as they believe the driver may have information that could help identify the suspect.

If anyone knows who the suspect is, they're asked to contact either the Atlanta Police Department or the Cobb County Police Department with information.
