Changed voting times in Atlanta may cause Election Day confusion

A change in the poll closing time on Election Day in the City of Atlanta may cause confusion for some voters.

The office of Secretary of State Brian Kemp says all polling locations in the city of Atlanta will be open until 8 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7.

Polls across the remainder of the state of Georgia will close at 7 p.m.

What does this mean for local voters?

IN FULTON

All City of Atlanta polling locations in Fulton County will be open until 8 p.m.

IN DEKALB

All City of Atlanta polling locations in DeKalb County will also be open until 8 p.m. However, after 7 p.m., voters in those precincts will only be able to vote in Atlanta municipal races.

After 7 p.m., DeKalb County voters in the city of Atlanta will not be able to vote in DeKalb County races.
