One of Atlanta’s most influential business-oriented organizations has endorsed Mary Norwood in the run-off for Atlanta’s mayor.

The Buckhead Coalition, headed by former Atlanta mayor Sam Massell, announced the endorsement on Thursday.

The support comes from the Better Community Political Action Committee, operated by the coalition. The PAC has endorsed candidates in all Atlanta Board of Education and City Council races, now adding two run-off Education seats: Michelle Olympiadis in District 3 and Erika Mitchell in District 5.

Each of the three endorsed candidates will also receive a campaign contribution of $1,400, the maximum allowed in Atlanta run-offs.

Massell and Coalition Chairman Juanita Baranco stated their confidence in Norwood, who is competing against Keisha Bottoms. The runoff will be held Dec. 5.

Massell and Baranco said Norwood has an all-inclusive following throughout her city-wide elected terms on the Atlanta city council, and that the coalition has endorsed a number of both black and white contenders.

“Norwood has been responsive to the entire city from Buckhead to Bankhead, and the public knows she is trustworthy,”, said Massell and Baranco in a joint statement.
