ATLANTA -- Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is the latest big name to get involved in the 6th district congressional race in Georgia.
Ryan will headline an event with Republican Karen Handel in Atlanta on May 15, according to Ryan's campaign spokesman Zack Roday. No other details about the event were released.
Handel is in a run-off with Democrat Jon Ossoff in the race to fill the congressional seat vacated by Tom Price, who is now Secretary of Health and Human Services in President Donald Trump's administration.
President Trump himself gave an endorsement to Handel during a stop at a National Rifle Association conference in Atlanta last month.
The congressional race has attracted nationwide attention -- and donations -- as Democrats hope to fill a spot that has previously been held by high-profile Republicans Price, Johnny Isakson and Newt Gingrich since 1979.
