A Roswell mayoral candidate was ruled ineligible on Wednesday for the city's municipal election in less than two weeks because she doesn't meet the city's residency requirement.

According to the Fulton County District Attorney, Sandra Sidhom has not lived in the city for at least one year prior to the election, which is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.

District Attorney Paul Howard notified Roswell's city clerk of the ruling in a letter.

"Our investigation as to whether there is sufficient evidence to charge Ms. Sidhom with false swearing remains ongoing," Howard said.

Sidhom was one of five people running to replace longtime mayor Jere Wood, who was abruptly removed from office back in early August after a Fulton County Superior Court judge ruled that Wood had violated the city charter regarding term limits.

At the time of the ruling, Sidhom issued a statement that said she was "disappointed but not surprised we have come to the point where the Fulton Superior Court has to order Mayor Wood to vacate the office and hand over all materials to the city attorney."

Sidhom's campaign did not provide a comment to 11Alive regarding this latest development.

Earlier this year, Sidhom was one of the organizers of an effort to demand Karen Handel debate Jon Ossoff in the race to replace Tom Price in the 6th congressional district, a Congressional election that eventually became the nation's most expensive election in history.

Voters will now choose a new Roswell mayor from the remaining field of Lori Henry, Donald J. Horton, Lee Jenkins and Michael Litten.
