Mitt Romney, John Kasich say allegations make Roy Moore 'unfit for office'

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have called for Roy Moore to step aside.
Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Alabama, Roy Moore, greets guests after arriving at an election-night rally on September 26, 2017 in Montgomery, Alabama.

As the fallout continues over allegations that Roy Moore groped, kissed and pursued teenage girls when he was in his 30s, two Republicans have outright denounced his candidacy.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said Friday that he believed the account of Leigh Corfman, who told to the Washington Post that Moore engaged in sexual touching with her when she was 14 and he was in his 30s in the late 1970s.

"Moore is unfit for office and should step aside," Romney tweeted.

Joining him in his denouncement of Moore was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who said the GOP "must not support him."
