Trump serves fast food to Clemson football players at White House visit

When the Clemson Tigers football team visits the White House Monday night, President Donald Trump says he's planning to serve them McDonald's Wendy's and Burger King with some pizza.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump hosted  the college football champion Clemson Tigers football team at the White House Monday night to celebrate their victory over Alabama.

Rather than a fancy, sit-down state dinner, as one might expect when they go to visit the president at the White House, fast food was on the menu for the Tigers.

"I think we're going to serve McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King with some pizza -- I really mean it, it'll be interesting and I would think that is their favorite food," Trump told reporters Monday morning.

Photos taken at the White House show Wendy's burgers and Big Macs from McDonald's served on silver trays. French fries were placed in Presidential cups.

Trump has a history of eating fast food regularly, and has long touted his love for McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken while on the campaign trail.

Clemson's visit is coming a bit earlier than the last time the Tigers visited the White House.

When Clemson defeated Alabama for the national title in 2017, they did not get invited to the executive mansion until the following June.
