Trio of arrests take heroin, prescription drugs off Cherokee County streets

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities are crediting a joint effort of local agencies with three arrests that, since the beginning of April, have gotten drugs like heroin out of circulation.

According to the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS), the first two arrests happened on April 4 when members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Uniform Patrol Division found a man and woman "passed out" in each other's laps inside a car.

From there, deputies called out CMANS agents who found seven grams of heroin - three more than required for a trafficking charge. Agents also found methamphetamine, marijuana, LSD and various prescription opiates, baggies, scales and "cutting" agents.

From that scene, police arrested Victoria Goss on counts of possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

The other person in the car, Michael Jones was charged with trafficking heroin, possession of Schedule I, Schedule II, Schedule III and Schedule IV controlled substances and possession of methamphetamine.

Both were booked into the Cherokee County jail.

Roughly a week later on April 11, agents were following up on a tip about the distribution of heroin in Cherokee County when they found enough proof to make an arrest.

Agents arrested Sherri Pyron after conducting surveillance that showed her picking up about two grams of heroin from East Atlanta. She allegedly brought it back for distribution from a hotel in Acworth, Georgia. Pyron was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
