Two units seriously damaged in south DeKalb apartment fire

Cause not yet released

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- DeKalb Fire Rescue reports it took 35 firefighters and 20 minutes to bring an apartment blaze under control.

The fire happened at The Asbury apartments just south of I-285 on Wellington Court and Flat Shoals Parkway. The fire caused heavy damage to two units and the entire building was evacuated. Several other units suffered smoke and water damage.

Fire department social accounts first reported the possibility that a person had been trapped in the burning building but a spokesperson later clarified that there was no confirmation of this.

One woman who helped others escape the fire was treated for smoke inhalation but no injuries were reported. No possible cause has been released.
