Did this call by the refs cost the Jaguars a chance at the Super Bowl?

The game is over, which means it's time to second guess every call and every ruling.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots made another remarkable comeback in the fourth quarter. The Patriots were down by 10, but Brady made two touchdown passes to Danny Amdendola to take the lead and win their second consecutive AFC title.

But there was a big play made by the Jaguars defense that could have changed everything.

The Patriots were getting tricky with two backwards passes. Dion Lewis caught the second pass and ran down the left sideline. In came Myles Jack with the tackle and the forced fumble. Jack recovered it (which a review confirmed), but then a whistle blew the play dead. Jack had been running down the sideline, and it would have been an easy touchdown if the whistle had not been blown by the referee.

The Jaguars couldn't get anything going off the turnover, going three-and-out. The Patriots were able to begin their comeback on the next drive.

But upon further examination, it doesn't appear Jack was ever touched after he recovered the fumble. So only because the referees blew the whistle meant that Jack couldn't scoop and score. If that happens, the Jaguars are likely going to the Super Bowl.

It is what it is. You can play the what-if game all night. Still, give credit to Brady and Bill Belichick. They're never out of it.
